BFS Ampoules, Liquid Swabs, MOQ and Pilot Review FAQ
This FAQ answers practical project questions about BFS LDPE ampoules, liquid-filled swab applicators, MOQ, fill volumes, formula support, NDA formula transfer, private label and turnkey pilot projects.
Project questions and answers
What is the usual MOQ for BFS single-dose skincare projects?
Standard commercial pilot production usually starts from 10,000+ units. This gives your team enough physical units to review filling behavior, pack structure, trial-kit usability, channel feedback and scale-up assumptions. A 5,000-unit review may be possible when the formula, format, channel plan and launch use case are clear enough to justify a smaller first review.
Can Steridose Labs support a 5,000-unit pilot?
Yes, but 5,000 units are reviewed as an exception, not as the normal market-facing MOQ. A 5,000-unit review is more likely when your formula, launch use case, channel plan and scale-up path are already clear, such as a clinic/spa sample, GWP campaign, travel set, distributor test or turnkey client project that can realistically move toward 10,000+ units.
What fill volumes are possible?
0.5ml–20ml small-dose skincare liquid projects, depending on format and use case. BFS LDPE ampoule projects are typically reviewed around 0.5ml–10ml, while larger or special formats should be evaluated separately. Final feasibility depends on mold route, formula behavior, opening experience, secondary packaging, unit economics, shelf presentation and your project's launch channel.
What liquids are suitable for BFS LDPE ampoules?
BFS LDPE ampoules are usually reviewed for small-dose topical cosmetic and personal-care liquids such as serum, essence, booster, scalp-care liquid, trial-kit liquids, travel-set liquids and professional skincare samples. Suitability depends on viscosity, appearance, compatibility with LDPE, filling behavior, opening design and stability expectations. Formula review is needed before confirming the production route.
Can customer-owned formulas be filled?
Yes. If you already have a formula, Steridose Labs can review it under NDA before detailed technical work begins. The review usually checks viscosity, fill-volume target, LDPE compatibility, stability assumptions, appearance standards and package-opening requirements. Some formulas can move forward with limited adjustment, while others need modification before a reliable pilot or commercial review can be planned.
Can Steridose Labs support self-developed formulas?
Yes. Partner factories and R&D resources can support self-developed skincare liquid concepts, formula adjustment, texture review and project-specific sample work. This is useful for teams that want a turnkey beauty project, private-label route or formula improvement before filling. The final route still depends on formula fit, packaging format, stability work, target market and commercial launch plan.
What is the difference between a BFS ampoule and a glass ampoule?
A glass ampoule is usually a rigid, breakable container that can feel premium but may create handling, shipping and travel-kit friction. A BFS LDPE ampoule is formed, filled and sealed in one integrated polymer route. For skincare brands, LDPE BFS is often reviewed as a lighter, non-glass pilot option for GWP, travel sets, trial kits and clinic/spa sample channels.
What is a liquid-filled swab applicator?
A liquid-filled swab applicator is a single-use applicator format where liquid and applicator are planned as one pack. Instead of sending a bottle plus loose cotton swab, pad or brush, your team can test a pre-filled route for topical cosmetic or personal-care liquids. It is most useful when the product needs cleaner sampling, clearer instructions and compact kit packing.
What use cases are best for swab applicators?
Swab applicators are strongest when the product is used in a small controlled area or when your project needs to replace a bottle plus separate applicator routine. Common review routes include scalp-care samples, oral-care sample applicators, pet topical-care applicators, nail/lash/brow liquids, professional beauty care samples and compact channel kits. Final suitability depends on liquid behavior and release mechanism.
What information should buyers prepare before quotation?
A useful quotation starts with product type, formula status, target format, target fill volume, intended use case, first pilot quantity, target market, launch timeline and any documentation needs. If you are not sure whether BFS ampoules or liquid-filled swabs fit, describe your current package and what you want the pilot to prove. That is enough for an initial format review.
How long does pilot review usually take?
The first project-fit review can often begin within a few business days after receiving a usable brief. Full pilot timing depends on formula readiness, packaging route, sample approval, material planning, production scheduling and any stability or documentation work required. Early-stage buyers can start with a format question first, then move into pilot scoping once the use case is clearer.
Do you support private label or turnkey projects?
Yes. Steridose Labs can support private-label and turnkey beauty partners that want to add BFS LDPE ampoules, small-dose skincare liquids, liquid-filled swabs or pilot-kit modules to brand client projects. The partner can keep the client relationship while Steridose Labs supports format review, formula route, pilot planning and manufacturing-fit discussion behind the project.
Best next step
For a specific project, submit a pilot brief with product type, target format, liquid type, filling volume, estimated pilot quantity and use case.
